Araby
Located at the southern-most section of Palm Springs and offers a rustic flair. Homes range from small post-war cottages to newer contemporary homes. Perhaps the most interesting history of Arbay is its former nick-name “Munchinville”. Munchkinville, Munchkin Land, Midgetville, Midget Town: All are names of a mythical place rumored for decades. After the Wizard of Oz was made, purportedly some of the small actors spent their earnings and bought land in the Araby building four homes with short door ways, windows, counters and roof lines to be built especially short to accommodate them people. For the most part the houses were made out of natural rock and they were constructed at the end of a long dead end street out of sight from the rest of the world. Currently there are about 350 residents living in Araby. Araby is located just below the exclusive and glamorous Southridge community. Homes in Araby range from 500K to around 1.5 Million.
